Tonba

Making his 35th times in the Hunter Exam. If only Tonba has spent as much time on the contest as he does trying to get people disqualified, he will have actually be a hunter by now. He is underhanded, sneaky and blatantly transparent. Tonba gets all of his thrills by crushing the dreams of others.   

Trained as a ninja from childhood, Hanzo is a lethal master of the deceptive arts. He is very talkative and somehow has a charismatic personality. In the hurricane alert in stage 3 of the exam, Hanzo was appointed leader for the escape mission, he acted to supervise the tasks for other candidates to perform.

Bokuru

An easily overlooked candidate. Bokuru is an accomplished archer that carries a bow and shaft of arrows wherever he goes. At the last part of the exam, he passed the test by a bit of sheer luck and eventually got himself the Hunter license. He plans to use it to find new species of animals and become a successful wildlife hunter. 

The longest-lasting female candidate for the exam. Ponzu's secret weapon lies in the pink round hat that she is wearing. For living inside that hat are a pack of trained killer bees that emerge and attack people that threaten her. Leorio refers to her as 'his princess' right before he steals her number tag.

Bodoro

Bodoro is a strong, imposing Russian, besides that he also has a fairly good sense of humor. But his weaknesses lies in his strictness and stubborness, he only wishes to fight against adults, not little kids as what he deemed Gon and Killua to be, when interviewed with Netero. He managed to reach the final stage, but was killed by Killua in the end.    

Datakuru

Known as the 'eccentric'. Datakuru spent most of his time keeping silent and chattering his teeth together. There is a reason for this, as beneath the ugly facade, he is Killua's older brother, Irumi, who wished to obtain the Hunter license "for ease of carrying out certain tasks". Throughout the exam, he was always seen to be together with Hisoka, the real reason behind is because they are actually old friends.      

Gereda is a frequent candidate for the exam and he is also good in hunting down animals. He uses a blowpipe as his weapon, with some poisonous darts inside which can paralyses victims. He was killed by Hisoka at the stage 4 test, as he was the target that Hisoka was looking for.

The Mori Brothers

Three brothers that share very close bond between each other. They managed to make it to the stage 4 test, through their close-knit cooperation between them. But in the end, they were eliminated by Killua by willingly gave up their number tags to save the youngest brother's life.  

Suoer

No particular skill, but he has a trained monkey that follows him wherever he goes. In the stage 4 test, he teamed up with Tonba to steal Leorio's number tag, but in the end he was eliminated whene Kurapica intervened and helped Leorio to retrieve back the number tag.
